When it comes to design projects, the end result can involve an element of surprise—in other words, what clients see in real life may not seem exactly like what they were presented on paper. Technology is changing that, and on April 5 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., a panel of experts will share exactly how at Boston’s 7 Tide showroom.
Part of this year’s Boston Design Week, “Building Before Building: Augmenting Design with Technology” will address various types of technology—such as BIM (building information modeling), CAD (computer-aided design) and VR (virtual reality)—and how they’re influencing the design and construction process. Led by moderator Sean Clarke, president of Clarke Distribution Corporation, the panel of cutting-edge industry professionals will include architect Chris Brown of b Architecture Studio; Interior Designer Michael Ferzoco of Eleven Interiors; Director of Virtual Design and Construction for Windover Construction, Amr Rafaat; and Miana Hoyt Dawson, Marketing Strategist for A.W. Hastings & Co.
The event is one of many celebrating “all things design” over the course of the 12-day festival. Within this year’s theme of “Now, New, Next!” the 5th Annual Boston Design Week will highlight current, new and future design topics. As always, the goal of the festival is to spread awareness and appreciation for design through a diverse and engaging schedule of events. Interested in attending? Check out the full event calendar.
