Setting your Thanksgiving table is a great opportunity to celebrate the rich and vibrant colors of fall. As your friends and family gather at your home next week make sure that there is room—along with your delicious turkey, mashed potatoes and pie—for elegant flowers, fruit and other natural accents. “A collection of beautiful autumnal flowers will wow guests when they first sit down,” says Grace Lillibridge, event production manager at Winston Flowers in Boston. “A long and low floral arrangement won’t obstruct conversation above it and can be a simple yet dramatic way to add beauty to your table for the Thanksgiving holiday.”
Lillibridge recommends laying the table with a neutral tablecloth or runner and then creating a traditional harvest look on top. “Grab some quintessential blooms and hues of the fall season like burnt orange roses, tangerine calla lilies, or burgundy orchids,” she says. Weaving in seasonal fruit like berries, pomegranates and pears add texture and interest. “Dried flowers in floral design is a trend we also love and autumn is the most natural time to use them,” she says.
By including family treasures and using different vases and vessels you can create a unique and personal look. “Bring it all together with candlesticks of varying heights and votives in complementary color palettes for sparkle,” says Lillibridge. She also suggests adding fresh fruit or a pop of green with sprigs or leaves on each plate. “This is where you can have fun with place cards and bring in a nice natural touch, too.”
